Willy Wonka's famous chocolate factory is opening at last!
But only five lucky children will be allowed inside. And the winners are: Augustus Gloop, an enormously fat boy whose hobby is eating; Veruca Salt, a spoiled-rotten brat whose parents are wrapped around her little finger; Violet Beauregarde, a dim-witted gum-chewer with the fastest jaws around; Mike Teavee, a toy pistol-toting gangster-in-training who is obsessed with television; and Charlie Bucket, Our Hero, a boy who is honest and kind, brave and true, and good and ready for the wildest time of his life!

"Charlie Bucket's story is a delicious romp through a factory filled with mouthwatering confections and unusual delights! this modern children's classic is a fun fun fun read and made my sweet tooth act up! why i waited so long to read it after watching two film adaptations escapes me. i'm glad i finally did because sinking my teeth into every page was worth it!"
"This is a hilarious little book that was quick and fun to read, and is even more entertaining to reread aloud to my 6-year old daughter. I was initially a bit hesitant as to whether I wanted to start reading it at all because I expected it to be too weird to my taste (my sister has been urging me forever to give it a try and I kept putting it off).
I have to admit I was surprised--in a wonderful way. Charlie and the Chocolate Factoryis witty and smart, and has already made my daughter chuckle more than once, so I have a feeling she will love it even more than I did. It's a modern day children's story with just the right amount of incredible to spice it up and make it truly entertaining for children and adults alike. And what is there not to like about a story set in the world's most famous chocolate factory? It's simply so delicious! Among all the tasty, funny and humorous stuff crammed into so little pages, there are quite a few good messages scattered throughout for young readers to grasp. Roald Dahl is a master story-teller; his style is simple, yet fascinating, and seems to be working wonders with kids. I'm sure it'll be a memorable book for my own daughter, too.
I am yet to see the movie based on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but now that I've read the book, I'm really curious and looking forward to it. Lesson learned: it never hurts to diversify one's reading selection a bit. And... now I'm craving chocolate :)"
