Percy Jackson and the Olympians Book 1: The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan
After getting expelled from yet another school for yet another clash with mythological monsters only he can see, twelve-year-old Percy Jackson is taken to Camp Half-Blood, where he finally learns the truth about his unique abilities: He is a demigod, half human, half immortal. Even more stunning: His father is the Greek god Poseidon, ruler of the sea, making Percy one of the most powerful demigods alive. There's little time to process this news. All too soon, a cryptic prophecy from the Oracle sends Percy on his first quest, a mission to the Underworld to prevent a war among the gods of Olympus.
This first installment of Rick Riordan's best-selling series is a non-stop thrill-ride and a classic of mythic proportions.

Reviews:
I really liked this book it was better than I had thought it would be. It was full of adventure and the story was so detailed and I can't wait to read the next book in the series. I'm only in 7th grade and I didn't really know who some of the gods were and I didn't know how to pronounce some of their names and before I read the book I watched some of the movie and it was really good but I wasn't sure if I should read the book or not because I wasn't really interested in Greek mythology and I didn't really understand it. But I'm glad I read it and I can't wait to read the next book I hope it is as awesome as this one was. It's not my favorite book though because I'm an extreme Hunger Games fan. I have read the Hunger games series 3 times in about 8 months ( I'm a fast reader ) an I was gonna read them again by my mom told me to read a different book and my dad told me I should try the Percy Jackson books by I was a little worried about reading it because I like scary books with a lot of death and Gore but I was glad I read it because it was good. Rick Riordan did a really good job with this book and I'm so look glad he wrote it.
I LOVE THESE BOOKS. THEY HAVE ACTION, STRATEGY, AND SOME ROMANCE. PLUS YOU ACTUALLY HAVE TO THUNK ABOUT STUFF IN THE BOOK FOR IT TO BE GOOD. The thing I love about Rick Riordan is that he fits so many small components and makes a mesmerizing, modern, appropriate book.
