Look, look! Children run, fish swim, stars shine . . . all for baby's eyes to see. This sturdy board book, full of high-contrast black-and-white cut-paper art perfect for staring at, is just the thing for the eyes of the youngest babies. A few words in curving red type on each spread describe the scenes -- a car races, a cat stretches, flowers bloom-- and extend the book's age appeal so that it will be fascinating to older babies, too. Striking and stylish, Look Look! is the ideal first board book for babies just beginning to look and learn. Peter Linenthal is an illustrator who has taught art in elementary schools for twenty years.

Reviews:

"This book is absolutely indispensable. My son loved it so much as a newborn that now I include it in every baby shower gift that I buy. Waitresses and sales clerks used to marvel at how my son would gaze raptly at each page.

While there are many black and white books for newborns, this one is special. Linenthal's creative and complex images really captivate babies, and even tell a story. One of my friends keeps the book open at her changing table and entertains her baby with the pictures while she changes her diapers.

This book got us through many peaceful meals in restaurants! If only there was a book this magical now that my son is a toddler!"

"My baby's only a week old and he already enjoys looking at this book - we stand it up in his crib and he really seems to study the images, sometimes for 10-15 minutes at a time; he's very calm and alert while looking at it. If we lay him flat on his back, he even turns his head toward the book to look at it. The clean, simple black and white images are graphically appealing to adults as well - as a designer, I love being able to give my baby a book that not only reaches him on his level, but that I consider to have good design."
